Racism is a disease that lives in the body and indeed is internal work. I work with the tenets of somatic abolitionism through work with Resmaa Menakem and the Rooted Global Village community as well as practicing how to disengage from the characteristics of white supremacy culture (Tema Okun). As Resmaa says, I get my reps in to be able to withstand more discomfort around race so I can hold the emotional charge and cause less harm to People of Color.
